Department N – Needlework

  1. General Rules & Regulations – Applicable to both open and 4-H/FFA classes

    1. Indicate on entry tag if design is original (no commercial pattern, graph, instructions, etc., used)

    2. Exhibits must be clean with a like-new appearance

  2. Quilting

    1. Joining together three layers – decorative top, batting, and backing – by hand or machine stitching.

    2. The decorative top layer is usually pieced, appliquéd, or embroidered.

  3. Counted Cross Stitch

    1. All pictures must be finished, framed (including a dust cover), and ready to hang.

    2. Glass must be clean.

    3. To determine picture size, measure diagonally inside the smallest mat if matted.
