002 Alpaca 0001 Obstacle Course        

Department 4L – Alpaca

  1. General Rules & Regulations

    1. Entries must be constructed by the exhibitor since August 1 of the previous year.

    2. Exhibits must be clean with like new appearance.

    3. Ehhibit placings are at the judge's discretion.  This includes the oral interview as well as the completed exhibit.

    4. Husbandry: 

      1. Any exhibit that demonstrates the management, health and/or care in raising alpacas as an agricultural livestock industry.

    5. Therapeutic:

      1. No specific rules or regulations.

    6. Suri and Huacaya Fleece Exhibits: 

      1. All fleeces shown must meet AOBA show rules for preparation and presentation of show fleeces.

    7. Felted Crafts: 

      1. All projects must be constructed of natural animal fiber (e.g.: alpaca, sheen wool, etc.)

      2. Exhibitor's tag must include the fiber content.

    8. Knit, Crocheted and Woven Crafts:  

      1. Exhibit shows a project that can be made of alpaca products (yarn, roving, raw fleece, etc.).  It does not have to be made of alpaca.

      2. Exhibitor's tag must include the fiber content.

    9. Hand Spun Crafts: 

      1. All hand spun yarn is to be of animal fiber(alpaca, sheep's wool, etc.).

      2. Exhibitor's tag must include the fiber content.

    10. Hand Dyed Crafts: 

      1. Exhibits will include a natural fiber that has been hand dyed by exhibitor.  This may include any natural animal fiber.

      2. Exhibitor's tag must include the fiber content.

    11. Alpaca Garment: 

      1. Exhibit includes an article of clothing that has been made by the exhibitor.  This may include, but is not limited to, mittens, scarf, hat, vest, jacket, socks).  The exhibit must be made of alpaca.

      2. Exhibit may, but is not limited to, construction that is sewn, knitted, crochet or felted.

    12. Other Related Alpaca Crafts: 

      1. Exhibitor may submit any creative projects beyond the scope of those listed in Classes 0001-0015.

    13. Alpaca Related Creative Writings: 

      1. Exhibitor may submit any creative writing that relates to alpacas.   Examples may include, but are not limited to poems, essays and stories.

      2. Exhibits must be submitted in an easy to read format (i.e.  neatly hand written in ink or typed).

    14. Other Related Projects: 

      1. Exhibitors may submit any alpaca related projects beyond those described in classes 0001- 0017.

    15. Obstacle Course:

      1. All alpacas participating in the obstacle course must be ARI registered alpacas.

      2. All alpacas must be owned or leased prior to June 1 of the current year.

      3. All exhibitors must be enrolled in 4-H/FFA.

      4. Any substitutions must be made through the superintendent prior to the show.

      5. Alpacas will be shown on properly fitted halters and lead ropes.

      6. The obstacle course is a demonstration, not a judged show.
